Privacy Policy — Product Data Extractor
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Product Data Extractor is a Chrome extension that extracts product information from
e-commerce pages and, at your request, monitors tracked products for price and stock changes.
We built it privacy-first: we do not operate any server, and we never receive your data.
What the extension processes
- Product page content. When you click the extension icon, it reads structured
metadata (Schema.org JSON-LD, Open Graph meta tags, microdata) from the page you are viewing
to display product details. This happens locally in your browser.
- Tracked products. When you press “Track this product”, the product's name, URL,
image URL, price and stock history are saved in your browser via
chrome.storage.local.
The extension periodically re-fetches only the product pages you chose to track.
- Settings. Your preferences (check frequency, optional API key) are stored locally.
What leaves your browser
- Nothing, by default. All extraction and tracking data stays on your device.
- Optional AI Extraction. If you choose to use the AI Extraction feature and provide
your own Anthropic API key, the visible text of the current page is sent to
api.anthropic.com solely to extract product fields, subject to
Anthropic's privacy policy.
This happens only when you click “Use AI Extraction”.
- Background checks. To update prices, the extension fetches the product pages you
track, directly from your browser to those stores — the same as visiting the page yourself.
What we do NOT do
- No accounts, no sign-up, no login.
- No analytics, telemetry, or tracking of your browsing.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of user data to anyone.
- No blanket access to websites — site access is requested per site, only when you track a product there.
Data retention & deletion
All data lives in your browser. Removing a tracked product deletes its history; uninstalling the
extension deletes everything. There is nothing to delete on our side, because we hold nothing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new date.
